Tindall Gask Bentley is urging Australians who have had insurance claims rejected to seek legal advice, following allegations of unethical practices by a major insurer.
It has been reported that CommInsure, an insurer with four million policy holders in Australia, has been using unjust tactics to reject or delay claims.
Tindall Gask Bentley, a leading Australian personal injury law firm, is acting for CommInsure claimants and is investigating individual claims on behalf of clients.
The firm will also review claims rejected by other insurers, with a particular focus on Total Permanent Disability (TPD), trauma and life insurance.
“The revelations exposed in the media are deeply concerning and add to the trauma that many claimants and their families are already going through,” Partner Barney Gask said.
“Many have had entitlements held back, often while suffering debilitating or terminal conditions, and we are calling for swift action by the insurer to address these concerns.”
With a senate inquiry proposed, Tindall Gask Bentley Partner Tim White welcomed a deeper investigation into the insurance industry.
“Insurers influence the livelihood of millions of Australians who have hit hardship, and must be held to account,” he said.
“Different insurers take different management approaches and unfortunately some will routinely reject, delay or make the process difficult for claimants.
“The best thing claimants can do is seek the help of an experienced lawyer, who understands the insurance landscape and can take action where necessary.
“It is important to seek advice as soon as possible, as time limits apply.”
