Parents who opt for home births without the aid of a registered midwife could be left with millions of dollars in health costs if deliveries go wrong, TGB medical negligence lawyer Mal Byrne told The Advertiser.

“…an unregistered midwife wouldn’t have any insurance to cover her, so if you allowed her to supervise and assist with a home birth and something goes wrong you have no avenue or prospects of getting any compensation.”
