Compulsory Land Acquisitions
Compulsory land acquisition occurs when the government acquires land or property from individuals or businesses for public purposes, such as building roads, creating new rail corridors, or other major infrastructure.
The public authority which acquires the land is legally obliged to pay compensation to the person whose land has been acquired. The legislation that governs compulsory land acquisitions, and how this compensation amount is calculated, is different in each State.
At TGB Lawyers, we understand that compulsory land acquisition can often be a difficult time, but it is important to know your rights, and that you have people with you in your corner.
Our commercial lawyers can provide expert legal advice to help you understand your rights, and if an agreement is not able to be reached in relation to the amount of compensation, we can work with you on negotiations to maximise your compensation.
