Defence Force Members

Why I Help ADF Members and Military Veterans – from experienced DVA lawyer, Tim White

For many lawyers, a career path is shaped by opportunity.
For others, it’s shaped by something much more personal.

For Tim, helping ADF members and veterans with DVA claims is not just an area of law… it’s something deeply connected to his own life and experience.

A personal connection to military service

Tim’s connection to the military runs deep.

With a long family history of service and more than 25 years as a legal reservist with the Royal Australia Air Force (RAAF), he has spent much of his life alongside those who serve.

This lived experience provides a unique perspective – not just of the legal system, but of military life itself. Tim understands:

  • The demands of service
  • The culture of resilience
  • The tendency to “push through” injuries
  • The lasting impact service can have on individuals and families.

It’s this understanding that shapes how Tim approaches every DVA claim.

More than 25 years helping veterans

Over a legal career spanning more than 30 years, Tim has spent at least 25 of those years assisting veterans and ADF members.

During that time, he has worked with thousands of clients who have served in:

  • World War II
  • The Vietnam War
  • The Korean conflict
  • East Timor
  • The Middle East and more recent conflicts.

Each claim is different, but what remains consistent is the need for:

  • Careful guidance
  • Strong advocacy
  • A deep understanding of the DVA system.

Why this work matters

DVA claims are rarely straightforward. They often involve complex legislation, detailed medical evidence, and the challenge of linking injuries to service – sometimes many years after discharge.

For many veterans, navigating this process alone can feel overwhelming.

For Tim, this is where his work becomes most meaningful.

“There’s nothing more rewarding than assisting someone who has worn the uniform for our country, been injured, and needs help accessing the support they’re entitled to.”

It’s not just about legal outcomes. It’s about ensuring veterans and their families are properly supported after their service.

Supporting those who have served

Tim’s approach to his work is simple. He knows that behind every DVA claim is a person who has committed to serving their country, and this is what drives him.

Many veterans:

  • Continue to live with physical or psychological injuries
  • Face challenges accessing the right support
  • Are unsure of their entitlements.

Having the right legal guidance can make a significant difference, not only to the outcome of a claim, but to the overall experience of the process.

Speak with someone who understands
