Burtenshaw wins defamation settlement

Tindall Gask Bentley client Sue Burtenshaw will receive a formal apology and compensation, after being defamed on radio and Facebook.

Ms Burtenshaw, a former Principal at Coober Pedy Area School, said she is pleased the dispute has been resolved.

“I believe that what was said about me publicly was wrong and unfair, and receiving an apology is extremely important to me,” Ms Burtenshaw said.

“It was a tough period for me made more difficult by these incidents, but I look forward to putting the whole ordeal behind me.”

Ms Burtenshaw acknowledged the support of the South Australian State School Leaders Association throughout the legal process.

“The team at SASSLA has stuck by me since these issues arose two years ago, and I thank them for their continuing support.

“The advice provided by SASSLA and Tindall Gask Bentley Lawyers has been invaluable.”

Ms Burtenshaw has another defamation claim which will be brought before the Court in July.
