78 percent implant complication rate for class action women

78 percent of Australians who have registered for Tindall Gask Bentley Lawyers’ proposed PIP breast implant class action have had complications with their medical devices.

39 percent of those women have had confirmed ruptures, while the rest have experienced complications and health issues.

 And these figures could soon be even higher, with many of the remaining 22 percent of women still waiting for test results to confirm the status of their implants.

Tindall Gask Bentley has so far surveyed 284 of the 380 Australian women who have registered for the proposed class action.

“The general problems and health concerns relating to these PIP breast implants have certainly exceeded our expectations,” Tindall Gask Bentley Partner Tim White said.

“There is little doubt that this is a serious health scare for Australians.

“Calls continue to come through daily from women who are facing shocking circumstances including immune disease, hair loss, significant pain, rashes and irritation.

“Many can’t afford the surgery required to remove these implants, and are left feeling helpless and abandoned by the authorities.”
