John is driven by a deep sense of fairness. It what drives his passion to ensure family members are well looked after in the event of an estate dispute where a person has not been adequately provided for.
Specialising in estate litigation, probate and estate administration, he always ensures his clients are well-informed from the beginning as to the possible legal costs involved in estate litigation and likely outcomes. He advocates trying to initiate informal mediations to try and resolves disputes in order to limit legal costs. He has assisted executors, claimants and defendants in disputed estates.
John also advises on the preparation of simple wills, the preparation of Enduring Powers of Attorney, Enduring Powers of Guardianship and Advance Care Directives.
Acutely aware of the sensitive nature of estate disputes and the potential to cause family conflict, he always strives to provide his clients with the most cost-effective and expedient solutions. He provides professional, compassionate and objective advice when he knows his clients are experiencing an emotional time after losing a loved one.
John has also been involved in a number of complex matters, applications for grants of probate, letters of administration where there was no will or only a copy will and where there was no executor or the executors have died. He has also dealt with estates where beneficiaries could not be found and obtained court orders to distribute the estate to other beneficiaries. He has acted for executors in getting orders for possession of estate property where family members have refused to leave a property.
John was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 1990. He initially qualified as a Solicitor in the United Kingdom. He has represented clients in the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal and State Administrative Tribunal has considerable court experience.
Outside of his legal practice, John is a keen golfer and landscape photographer.
