TGB partner Richard Yates makes move to the West

Tindall Gask Bentley’s Perth office continues to go from strength to strength, with partner Richard Yates making the move to the WA capital permanently.

A versatile lawyer who is in demand with clients and unions across a range of practice areas, Richard’s move is reflective of the firm’s rapid growth since opening its doors in Perth in November 2013, when it started with just one lawyer. That team has since grown to include, along with Richard, Renee O’Callaghan, Paul Sofield, and Nakkie Le Roux, helping clients with criminal, industrial, personal injury, workers compensation and family law matters.

“Western Australia already feels like home. For close to four years I’ve worked regularly in Perth and have been impressed by the city, the people, and the opportunities WA offers,” Richard said.

“We are growing in the West and the firm is in it for the long haul. It’s exciting to be a part of it. I’ve had the privilege of visiting some regional and rural parts of WA and, on a personal level, I am looking forward to exploring more of this incredible state.”

TGB managing partner Morry Bailes said although Richard would be missed in Adelaide his talents will still be called upon as he will frequently return to his home state and practise in both jurisdictions.

“Having worked side by side with Richard for his entire legal career I can only speak in glowing terms of his ability and we, as a firm, are very excited to see him take this significant step, both for him personally but also as a sign of our success and future intentions in the great state of Western Australia,” Morry said.

“It demonstrates our commitment to WA, where we would ultimately like to see the same footprint as we have in SA.

“We are fortunate to have a number of senior lawyers already practising in our Perth office, but Richard, as a long-term firm member and partner, will add a great deal of depth to our leadership, more regular one-on-one contact with our clients and, of course, mentoring for our staff.

“Our firm’s foundations are built upon on looking after our clients and our staff, and Richard will enable just that.”
