Kate Soderstrom provides an answer to the growing need for a family lawyer with a commercial law skill set at Tindall Gask Bentley.
Property settlements are becoming increasingly complex. More separating couples have asset pools that include multiple properties, a family business, shares and investments. Further, a party may have an interest in a trust, partnership, franchise or company structure – all of which must be considered in any property settlement.
Kate has extensive experience in business transactional law, including assisting clients with sale and purchase of businesses (including hotels and other licensed premises), shares and property, leases, caveats and mortgages. She also negotiates and drafts various commercial agreements including shareholder, franchise and loan agreements.
Kate is regularly called upon when these commercial legal issues cross over into family law property settlements, and is uniquely positioned to provide specialised family law advice.
Kate’s expertise in dispute resolution, and her knowledge of court procedure, was honed in the heat of the Federal Magistrates Court (now Federal Circuit Court) – where she worked as a Deputy Associate to a Federal Magistrate.
Kate’s passion for working at the intersection of family and commercial law is fundamentally based on the opportunity to help people solve their problems – both in family and business life. She’s recognised for her empathy, and her ability to cut through the complexity to deliver results that are simple for her clients to understand.
